A walk-thru Communion is one of the activities planned for Zion Lutheran Church of Tamaqua’s observance of “God’s work. Our hands” Sunday.
This is a nationwide event of all Evangelical Luther Church of America member churches. Its purpose is to show God’s love through acts of kindness to neighbors and friends and serving others.
The walk-thru Communion will be offered from noon to 2 p.m. Guests should enter the door at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets. Some steps are involved. You need not be a member of Zion to receive Communion.
Zion is also hosting a work day at its cemetery on Dutch Hill in Tamaqua. Members are preparing cards for residents of the Hometown Nursing Home and collecting food items for Zion’s People Pantry food closet.
Zion has been accepting outdoor project ideas from members who know of others who need some help with their homes or personal lives.
The day begins with a commissioning message as part of the Saturday 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. worship services and ends with a Zoom meeting when members will share their experiences from that day.
