CARBON COUNTY COURT - GUILTY PLEAS

Several people entered guilty pleas Thursday in pending Carbon County cases before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Victoria Pemberton, 29, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of theft. She admitted opening an account with Verizon and another with DirectTV using the personal information of Christian Kipp, a former acquaintance. She pleaded to the charge concerning Verizon but agreed to pay restitution in both matters. She was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program but was revoked for violating conditions.Nanovic placed her on probation for six months and ordered her to make total restitution of $966.93 and get a D&A evaluation.Ryan Michael Eckhart, 30, of Palmerton, and formerly of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of furnishing a drug-free urine. He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police on March 9 when he appeared at the adult probation office at the courthouse for a urine screen. Probation personnel found he was wearing a device to supply the urine of another person.Eckhart told Nanovic, "I'm sorry. I'm ready to face the consequences."Eckhart also admitted to violating his probation/parole in two other cases. In those cases Nanovic sentenced him to serve six to one day less 24 months in the county prison. On the furnishing count he was sentenced to time served (198 days) to one year concurrent with the probation/parole violations.Nanovic said Eckhart could ask to be released on parole if he entered a long-term inpatient rehabilitation program.Eckhart admitted to an addiction problem he told the court he has been dealing with for nine years.Joshua Kenneth Pensyl, 28, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property.He admitted taking a grandfather clock from the residence of Jean Bickel, of North 10th Street, Lehighton, on or about Sept. 1, 2011. Pensyl was helping Bickel clean out the residence at the time. He sold the clock at a pawnshop in Lehighton.Nanovic placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he get a D&A evaluation and make restitution to the victim for $1,000.Timothy Daniel Toner, 28, of Pittstown, New Jersey, pleaded to one count of criminal mischief.He was arrested on or about March 20 by state police at Lehighton for taking a backpack belonging to a Brody Pfifer at the Blue Mountain Ski area in Lower Towamensing Township. The backpack was recovered, with nothing reported taken.Nanovic placed him on probation for six months and ordered he get both D&A and mental health evaluations.All defendants sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
