A long-standing flooding problem in Palmerton moved closer to a solution when Rep. Keith McCall presented a $64,000 check to the Carbon County Redevelopment Authority.
The funds were allocated to help Palmerton Borough pay for a two-year feasibility study by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The study is estimated to cost $200,000 and requires a 50-50 percent match from the borough. The problem confronting borough officials is the repeated Aquashicola Creek floodings that have plagued the zinc city community for many years.
