Northern Lehigh school board
The Northern Lehigh school board, on a 6-0 vote, with directors Mathias Green, Gary Fedorcha, and Donna Kulp absent, took the following action this week:
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Beverly Rupert from her position as Slatington Elementary custodian, effective Nov. 30. Rupert will begin her retirement from the district after 17 years of service.• Approved the appointment of Donna Marks as assistant to the food services director, at a salary of $15 per hour, Monday through Friday, five hours per day, 180 student days a school year, plus additional 10 days needed to ensure that the school district cafeteria operates effectively, effective Aug. 12, 2015, replacing Kim Keiser, who resigned. Marks will have a 60-day probationary period, ending Oct. 12.• Approved the appointment of Kellie Bechtel as a lunch room monitor at Peters Elementary School, at a salary of $10.40 per hour, Monday through Friday, two hours per day, 180 student days a school year, effective Aug. 31, 2015, with a 60-day probationary period, ending Oct. 29.• Approved the appointment of Patricia Bortz as a lunch room monitor at Peters Elementary School, at a salary of $10.40 per hour, Monday through Friday, two hours per day, 180 student days a school year, effective Aug. 31, 2015, with a 60-day probationary period ending Oct. 29.• Approved the appointment of Julie Senefeld as a lunch room monitor at Slatington Elementary School, at a salary of $10.40 per hour, Monday through Friday, two hours per day, 180 student days a school year, effective Aug. 31, 2015, with a 60-day probationary period ending Oct. 29.• Approved the appointment of Heather VanBlargan as a lunch room monitor at Slatington Elementary School, at a salary of $10.40 per hour, Monday through Friday, two hours per day, 180 student days a school year, effective Aug. 31, 2015, with a 60-day probationary period ending Oct. 29.• Approved Janet Brostedt, elementary K-6; JoLynn Gazo, social studies, family consumer sciences, and library science; Christopher Hamm, music K-12; Elena Krupa, special education, N12; Ryan Stillwell, elementary PK-4, special education PK-8; and Kristin Wessner, elementary PK-4, Special Education PK-8 as substitute teachers for the 2015-16 school year at the 2015-16 substitute teacher rates.• Approved Janice Wasilkowski as substitute secretary/aide for the 2015-16 school year at the 2015-16 substitute rate.• Approved Eric Kindrew and Janice Wasilkowski as substitute cafeteria workers for the 2015-16 school year at the 2015-16 substitute rate.• Approved Patricia Bortz and Eric Kindrew as substitute custodians for the 2015-16 school year at the 2015-16 substitute rate.• Approved a stipend in the amount of $500 for Andrew Kern for high school website maintenance, and working with students during the 2015-16 school year. The stipend will be funded by the general fund high school student activities fund.• Approved a stipend in the amount of $1,000 for Andrew Kern for maintenance and updates of the district website during the 2015-16 school year. The stipend will be funded by the superintendent’s budget.• Approved a stipend in the amount of $500 for Janet Bashore for maintenance and updates of the Peters Elementary website during the 2015-16 school year. The stipend will be funded by Peters Elementary principal’s discretionary account.• Approved a stipend in the amount of $500 for Kori Dibilio for maintenance and updates of the Slatington Elementary website during the 2015-16 school year. The stipend will be funded by the Slatington Elementary principal’s discretionary account.• Authorized the superintendent to execute a letter of agreement for the 2015-16 academic year with the Center for Humanistic Change Inc. to provide Student Assistance Program Liaison services. The Student Assistance Teams in the district will use these services.• Approved the renewal of the district’s contract with TSA Consulting Group Inc. for administrative services for the district’s 403(b) plan. The district will move to the “vendor pay” plan, which will save it about $1,600 annually.• Granted permission to dispose of unusable weight room equipment, and accept sealed bids for the sale of weight room equipment with a value over $100. Any equipment not sold will be disposed of.• Approved the district’s goals for the 2015-16 school year.• Approved the resolution in recognition of Lehigh Carbon Community College’s 50th anniversary.• Elected Mark Miller, president elect; Michael Faccinetto, vice president; and Lawrence Feinberg, at-large representative, as officers for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, effective Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2016.
