Seven first-time offenders of the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Sherry L. Eberly, 49, of Lehighton, was placed for six months on a charge of terroristic threats. She was arrested on Dec. 30, 2015, by sheriff's deputies following an incident in the area of 182 S. Second St., Lehighton.She was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 10 hours of community service.Stephen M. Smolar, 43, of New Ringgold, was placed on a charge of theft. He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police on Jan. 1, 2014.Smolar was assessed $450 and ordered to make restitution to the victim of $1,079.20.Andrew John Caliente II, 28, of Northampton, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence. He was arrested on June 12, 2015, along Route 248 at Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.Rosalie Skrabak Daelemans, 57, of Bowie, Maryland, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Sept. 7, 2015, along Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.09 BAC.She was assessed $450.Jacob Douglas George, 23, of Northampton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Sept. 27, 2015, along Route 248 at Parryville by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.13 BAC.He was assessed $500 and license suspended for 30 days.April Lucille Pilz,33, of Palmerton, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Sept. 20, 2015, along Spruce Hollow Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.08 BAC.He was assessed $450.Claudette Ann Wiley,38, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of retail theft. She was arrested on Oct. 21, 2015, by Palmerton police at the Family Dollar Store. She took merchandise valued at $23.85.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 10 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
