Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved two contracts between Green's Communications of Pottsville and the county 911 center.
With Commissioners' Chairman Frank F. Staudenmeier absent, commissioners George F. Halcovage Jr. and Gary J. Hess approved a one-year, $4,200 agreement for maintenance of the net clock time synchronization.The second agreement, for $86,010, is to perform repairs to tower sites from the August 2014 lightning storm, said director Scott Krater.The cost was covered by the county's insurance carrier, and the check has been received.Commissioners also authorized 911 center employee John Cray to attend mandatory emergency medical dispatch training at Baltimore County's 911 center in Towson, Maryland, on Oct. 20, 21 and 22.The class is part of the certification needed for telecommunicators. The cost of the class is $350 plus lodging for three nights at a cost of $390.In other matters, commissioners approved the purchase of an unmarked $28,318 vehicle for the drug task force, from the 2016 drug task force budget.The purchase will be made through New Holland Auto Group, New Holland, Lancaster County, under a three-year lease purchase with a quarterly payment of $2,545.57.Commissioners also approved a $5,650 contract with Motorola Solutions for the lease/purchase of a radio. The radio will be leased over five years, with annual payments of about $1,130.The lease/purchase is through the COSTARS purchasing agreement.
