A longtime principal in the Jim Thorpe Area School District is moving to a new building, and an assistant principal will receive a promotion.
School board members announced Monday night that Holly Mordaunt will become the new principal at Penn-Kidder Campus. Mordaunt served as principal at L.B. Morris since 2007.
“She would be the veteran principal in that K-8 rank, and I think there are challenges out there that we know she’s going to be able to handle,” Superintendent John Rushefski said.
The board also voted to hire Shawn Albert as the new principal at L.B. Morris. He has been the assistant principal at L.B. Morris for the past three years.
“We saw a lot of potential in him. We think he’s going to do a fine job leading the L.B. Morris building,” he said.
Albert’s salary was set at $90,000. Mordaunt is set to receive $99,500 in the coming year.
The board also voted Monday night to post the L.B. Morris assistant principal position.
The principal position at Penn-Kidder opened last month after Principal Dave McAndrew Jr. resigned to become superintendent of Panther Valley School District.
