Mauch Chunk Trust Company recently supported the Team Triple Nickel Relay for Life Team in their fundraising efforts with a check in the amount of $250 during their Breakfast with Santa event. In 2003, members of Boy Scout Troop 555, Jim Thorpe were inspired to become involved with the Relay for Life program.

"Getting involved with the then 'Palmerton' Relay for Life just seemed like an obvious thing to do," says Scoutmaster Ray Attewell.Since that first year, there have been other individuals and groups that have signed up and joined the team.Sue Urban, a Girl Scout troop leader, became a Relay for Life Co-Captain with Ray and encouraged other local Girl Scout troops to become active over the years.
