Free dinner

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, intends to have a free community dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. today. It is slated to be a free bagged meal by way of a drive-thru.

Enter the parking lot and follow the instructions given by the attendant.

For more information, call 570-992-6988. That is also the number to call for more information about the upcoming services which include a recorded service on Facebook this coming Sunday as well as a Zoom service.

The following Sunday, June 28, Zion will do a drive-in worship service.

Eldred Township

The Eldred Township Supervisors will be holding a virtual meeting at 7 p.m. today at the municipal building on Kunkletown Road. Attendance of the public is welcome and can be accomplished in one of two ways.

Chestnuthill planners

The Chestnuthill Planning Commission is meeting at 7 p.m. today at the township municipal building in Brodheadsville.

WELL meeting

The West End Little League has a scheduled meeting on its calendar for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville.

Legion reopening

The West End Memorial American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, has announced it is reopening on Friday under the green phase of precautions.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Department of Health guidance for mask-wearing, social distancing and cleaning must be followed.

Grilling gift

The West End Park and Open Space Commission anticipates hosting a Father’s Day Grilling Potholder Craft on Saturday at the Ross Township Park, on Anchorage Road, in Saylorsburg, from 10 a.m. to noon as a drop-in event.

Children will get everything they need to decorate a potholder for Dad to use with their barbecue event while supplies last.

Monroe County is going green the day before, so this event will be outside at the pavilion.

Families are asked that if anyone is feeling symptoms to not bring the children to the event.

Masses celebrated

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will continue to hold a public Mass at 5 p.m. Saturday, with social distancing restrictions, and a livestream Mass at 9 a.m. Sunday with an opportunity for Communion from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The following week, a change is scheduled in that on June 28, there will be Mass at 8 and 11 a.m. and livestream at 11 as well.

Guest preacher

Effort UMC’s services this coming Sunday will feature Bob Decker and next Sunday it will be Mark Wells.

At this time the service will be available via the church webpage: effortumc.org and on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/ivv3UXzWPtk after 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.

McMichaels UMC

Beginning this past Sunday, McMichaels UMC planned an outdoor worship service at the church parking lot starting at 9:30 a.m. due to not everyone having a computer or access to the Sunday worship service.

The choice was to bring lawn chairs or remain in the car. Everyone must wear a mask and keep proper social distancing if one gets out of the car.

There will not be Communion nor will the offering plates be passed around. People are asked to mail an offering to the church or place it in the church mailbox.

It will continue to be live on Facebook every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and remain on there for a while.

Just announced are some special events at McMichaels UMC. They include three July activities, a donation-only breakfast, a bake sale the same day and a pizza sale.

Middlecreek Christian

In-house live services, as well as livestreaming and Facebook services at 10:30 a.m. continue at Middlecreek Christian Church in Kresgeville.

The church secretary explains that masks must be worn when entering and exiting the church and the social distancing is marked by tape in the church.

Offerings can be sent to the church treasurer.

PVAG service

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will again have a drive-in service

There will also be a service online via Facebook and YouTube. It premieres Sunday at the 10 a.m. service.

Polk Supervisors

The Polk Township Board of Supervisors will be meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the municipal building in Kresgeville.
