The granite and bronze veterans memorial on White Street in Bowmanstown has a new look, courtesy of a local businessman who wanted to give something back to the community.

Howard Ruben recently completed a face-lift of the monument, which notes Bowmanstown’s contributions to both world wars.

For over two months, Ruben has worked on the monument, sandblasting the granite, cleaning the plaques and polishing every letter on the 7-foot-tall memorial.

Ruben is the owner of the Towamensing Cemetery located outside of Palmerton.
