Coaldale Council hopes to hire a secretary during a special meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Council president Thomas Keerans said that council discussed the matter during a "lengthy" executive session held during a meeting July 14."We're ready to hire," he said. "I think we've found someone who is flexible and can work the hours we need."During a meeting June 17, council members voted 4-2 against continuing the employment of secretary Elizabeth Hosler. Hosler is the daughter of Councilwoman Brenda Hosler.Keerans said the special meeting Wednesday is to discuss the police pension board and also for general purposes, which should include the hiring of a secretary. He added that Coaldale's Zoning Hearing board will meet at 6 p.m. July 29 to discuss an application for a cell tower to be constructed in the borough.
