Palmerton ambulance to launch annual subscription fund drive

The Palmerton Community Ambulance Association will soon launch its annual subscription fund drive.

The drive runs from October 2015 through October 2016, according to Jeanie Solarczyk, president of the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association.Solarczyk said the prices will be the same as they have for the past several years: $45 for an individual and $65 for a family. With the family membership, this includes up to the age of 18, or 26 if they are in college full time, she said."As a subscriber, Palmerton Ambulance will bill all patients' insurance companies, including subscribers," Solarczyk said. "Subscribers will not be responsible for charges not covered by (their) insurance, including deductibles, co-payments and contractual allowances. Nonsubscribers may be billed for the portions not covered by insurance."Solarczyk said the PCAA changed and updated the layout of the subscription "to make it more user friendly."The form can be dropped off at the station or mailed to the PCAA, she said. The group is accepting credit cards for the general public for outstanding bills or subscriptions, said Solarczyk, who added that can be done by calling 610-826-7609.Anyone who has not received a subscription in the mail by the end of September can call 610-826-7600 and leave their name and address. This year, the organization will purchase a new para transport van to help better serve the community, Solarczyk said. The organization has seven para transit vans and six ambulances, four of which were donated by the late Lucy Behler. The PCAA has served the community since 1945, including Lower Towamensing, parts of Towamensing Township and Bowmanstown, Solarczyk said. It also responds into other counties when needed for mutual aid.It has about 40 paid staff employees, which consist of EMTs, EMRs and para transit drivers.Last year, Solarczyk said the PCAA responded to about 2,500 911 calls, while its para transit staff completed 2,800 transports.
