Carl Wilgus, president and CEO of Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau, reported this month to the Carbon County commissioners that PMVB's performance for the 2014-15 year has been very successful.

Highlights of the annual report included that 25.6 million North Americans visited the Poconos, which includes Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties; and brought in $3 billion into the local economy in the terms of recreation, retail, food and overnight stays.In addition, the area's employment percentage that relates to tourism is 34.9 percent - the most tourism-dependent region in the state.Wilgus also said there have been over 6 million unique visitors to the PMVB website, meaning that people are looking to come to the area; and when measured against other popular visitor destinations in the country, the Poconos are doing exceptionally well through the marketing efforts of PMVB.
