Several area churches join together for midweek Lenten services. Tonight the service is at Salem-St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Kresgeville.The community supper is at 6 p.m. and the worship service at 7 p.m. Brian Holben will preach.Next week Salem United Church of Christ in Gilbert will serve as host church.Lions meetThe Western Pocono Lions Club meets tonight at the Old Mill Pizza in Sciota. Lions and friends will gather at 6:30 p.m. to order off the menu. The guest speaker for will Ed Gallagher, who will speak on "shelter box."Football boostersFootball Boosters Club meeting will be at 6:30 tonight at the high school.Priest presidesThe Rev. Michael Quinnan, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert, has been designated by Pope Francis as one of 80 Missionaries of Mercy from the United States.He will preside over three events this week taking place at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Pocono Pines as that church hosts host a Lenten Mission of Mercy on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during this second week of Lent. Today the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated; several other priests will also be available for confessions. On Thursday, it will be an evening of Eucharistic Adoration. The Mission concludes on Friday with Mass.All are welcome.
