Carbon man admits to drug dealing; other pleas entered

A Carbon County man admitted to a drug dealing charge Thursday in Carbon County court. He was one of 13 defendants in pending cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Sold to CICharlie Lee McNeil, 26, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of delivery of a controlled substance-heroin.He was arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's office for an incident on Feb. 4 in the 300 block of S. Center Alley in Lehighton. McNeil told nine bags of heroin to a confidential informant (CI) working with the AG office.In a unrelated case McNeil also pleaded to one count of retail theft for an incident on Feb. 26 at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. He attempted to leave the store with a shopping cart full of items valued at $849.71 without paying for them. He was stopped by store security and arrested by township police. There is a co-defendant in the case.Serfass accepted the pleas but deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI) report.Assault incidentCarlos Delgado, 30, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of simple assault, criminal mischief, and public drunkenness.He was arrested for an incident on Oct. 25, 2011, outside Ruby's Saloon in Lehighton. Borough police were dispatched to the area for a report of a fight in progress. On scene officers learned that Delgado has assaulted a female, Tanya Hoiser, and damaged a vehicle near the bar. He also fled on foot but was later found and intoxicated.Serfass accepted the plea but deferred sentencing ordering a PSI.Other pleasOther defendants who entered pleas before Serfass included:Earl Anthony Eldridge, 33, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-cocaine. He was arrested by agents of the AG office for an incident in the 400 block of Center Ave. in Jim Thorpe. He sold one gram of cocaine to a CI working for the AG office.Eldridge is currently serving a state prison term of 18 to 48 months on a drug count. He was sentenced in March.Eldridge is currently house at the state prison at Graterford, near Philadelphia. He told Serfass, "Being at Graterford is a real eye opener."Serfass went along with a plea bargain entered with the district attorney's office and sentenced Eldridge to serve 18 to 60 months in a state prison, but the term runs concurrent with the prison term imposed in March.He was also ordered to render 200 hours of community service when released on parole and supply a DNA sample.Michael C. Balogach Jr., 33, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of criminal mischief. He was arrested on Feb. 24 by Lehighton police with an incident involving Mark Miller, of 318 S. First St., the victim and causing damages to his vehicle.Serfass sentenced him to serve six to 12 months in the county prison and ordered he render 50 hours of community service when released on parole. The sentence runs concurrent with a parole violation he is serving now and which runs to Dec. 19.Tameke Huggins, 20, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested on April 1 by Lehighton police for an incident at 101 S. First St., with Jasmin Bradley, the victim. The incident was considered domestic as the two were in a relationship.Huggins told Serfass he and Bradley are still together as they have two children and a third one is on the way.Bradley spoke on behalf of Huggins.Serfass placed him on probation for 24 months and ordered he get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, attend and complete anger management counseling, render 100 hours of community service, and make restitution totaling $224.94 to Bradley.Ryan Howard, 30, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested on Oct. 26, 2012, when agents of the AG office served a search warrant at a home along W. Lizard Creek Road, in East Penn Township. Found in the home was bags of heroin. It was not Howard's residence.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, and render 50 hours of community service.Eric Daniel Hayes, 27, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Aug. 2, 2012, in the area of 612 Apple St., Bowmanstown. State police at Lehighton went to the residence to assist Mahoning Township police in an investigation.Serfass placed him on probation for three months, ordered he continue mental health counseling, and get a D&A evaluation.Marisol Magobet, 34, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of harassment as a summary offense. A charge of simple assault was dropped in a plea bargain.She was arrested for an incident on Nov. 15, 2012, at 111 Jamestown St., where Mahoning Township police said she assaulted Christine Mertz.Serfass placed her on probation for three months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.Jamie Lynn Canfield, 28, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of obstructing the administration of law. A charge of failure to register as required under Megan's Law as a sexual offender, was dropped in a plea bargain.She was arrested by state police at Fern Ridge.Serfass deferred sentencing.Timothy Darragh, 54, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count each of criminal trespass and theft.He was arrested by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident at 88 Longbrook Way, Indian Mountain Lakes, Penn Forest Township. He attempted to steal a lawn mower of Mary E. Knoskie, but was caught by the owner and fled. He was later apprehended.Serfass deferred sentencing.Michael Snee, 61, of Levittown, pleaded to one count of bad check. He was arrested by Lansford police for issuing a bad check to the Edgemont Assisted Living facility while he was a resident. Several checks were reportedly involved but he pleaded to only one count.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to make restitution of $3,060.Jason Carl Koons, 30, of Bowmanstown, pleaded to one count of loitering and prowling at night. He was arrested by Palmerton police for an incident on Nov. 19, 2012, at 592 Mauch Chunk Road with Dorothy Amill the listed victim.He was placed on probation for three months, and ordered to render 15 hours of community service.Matthew C. Mark, 22, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of retail theft, as a felony three, his third offense. He was arrested on Jan. 10 by Mahoning Township police for an incident at the Walmart store in which he took an item valued at $6.74.Serfass placed him on probation for 24 months, and ordered he supply a DNA sample, and render 100 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
