A Monroe County woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:57 p.m. Tuesday along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Christine Ciccone, 45, of Blakeslee, was driving a 2010 Nissan Murano northbound and began to negotiate a slight right curve. Ciccone lost control with the vehicle, which slid off the right side of the road.The vehicle then rotated clockwise about 90 degrees before striking a tree with the driver's side. The Murano came to rest against the tree.Troopers indicated that Ciccone suffered serious head and leg injuries and was transported to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, by Lehighton ambulance. Troopers added that she was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
