Saylorsburg man arrested in woman's death

A Monroe County man has been charged with homicide, kidnapping, and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of Holly Grim, a woman who disappeared from her Lehigh County home in 2013.

Charges against Michael Gene Horvath, 49, of Ross Township were announced Thursday morning.Horvath worked with Grim at Allen Organ Company in the Lehigh Valley.Police descended on Horvath's property late last month, searching for bone fragments. At a press conference on Thursday, police said bones found at the scene were confirmed to have come from Grim, who was missing since November 2013.Police said they also found numerous video tapes and DVDs related to murder, including one about "hunting humans” and sexual deviance.”Police also found sex toys and pornographic magazines and videos, with several of the sex toys located in a fanny pack or bag, suggesting portability. They found handcuffs, leg shackles and other devices that could be used as restraints. Weapons included stun guns.Grim, who was 41, was last seen outside her home just before 7 a.m. on Nov. 22, 2013, just after dropping off her son at his bus stop outside their trailer court in Lower Macungie Township.Grim's mother became immediately suspicious when her daughter failed to contact her by phone that morning, as she did on most days.Grim’s asthma medicine and cigarettes were left behind. Police saw a spilled coffee mug and an overturned ashtray. A single button not matching any of Grim’s clothes was found on the floor.According to police, Horvath was interviewed because he showed up late for work on the day of the alleged murder, but told his co-workers it was because he had gotten a flat tire.On the day Grim disappeared, police found a bright, reddish stain on the exterior face of the unlocked rear door to her residence. The DNA profile of the stain matched Horvath’s profile.Horvath has been charged in Monroe County Court with one count of criminal homicide. He has also been charged with two counts of felony kidnapping in Lehigh County.A preliminary hearing on the homicide charges has been tentatively set for Oct. 24 at Judge JoLana Krawitz's office in Monroe County.
