There is a new full-time assistant district attorney in Carbon County.

On Thursday, the Carbon County Commissioners approved the status change of Brian B. Gazo of Lehighton from the solicitor of the Recorder of Deeds office to the full-time assistant district attorney, effective Aug. 10. Gazo replaces Sarah E. Modrick, who moved from the position to the full-time assistant public defender position, effective Aug. 3.District Attorney Jean Engler also asked the county salary board, who met during the commissioners' meeting, to change the salary of the position from $54,106 per year to $53,076 per year. The motion was approved.In addition, the commissioners approved the following personnel moves:• Accept the resignation of Theresa J. Milberger of Tobyhanna as the aging care manager II, Area Agency on Aging, effective July 31.• Appoint Angela M. Stehle of Lehighton as the solicitor in the Recorder of Deeds office, effective Aug. 10.• Approve the change of status of Ashley J. Leickel of Palmerton, from part-time dispatcher/trainee to part-time dispatcher, Communications Center, effective Aug. 3.• Approve the leave of absence extensions of Robert J. Blisard of Albrightsville, deputy sheriff from July 17 to Oct. 16; and Sandra L. Schnell of Lehighton, part-time fiscal assistant in the treasurer's office from July 24 to Aug. 31.The county salary board also approved changes to personnel salaries, including:• Change the salary of one law clerk in the court administration from $32,086 per year to $33,051.20 per year, effective Sept. 2.• Change the on-call pay primary rate from $45 per day to $50 per day for adult probation and juvenile court, retroactive to Jan. 1.• Change the on-call pay schedule for Area Agency on Aging caseworkers from Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays to Monday through Sunday and holidays for the period of July 1 to Dec. 31.• Change the on-call pay schedule for Area Agency on Aging supervisors to $25 per Monday through Sunday and holidays from retroactive from Feb. 12 to Dec. 31.• Change the rate of one aging care manager II in Area Agency on Aging from $14.78 per hour to $14.35 per hour, effective Aug. 1.• Change the rate of one programs coordinator in the office of Planning and Development from $17.46 per hour to $17.98 per hour, effective Sept. 2.
