In the race for the Democratic nod for U.S. Senator party-backed Katie McGinty won the county with 6,590 votes to 4,706 for her chief rival, Joe Sestak.

The other two candidates were John Fetterman, who got 1,312 votes and Joseph J. Vodvarka with 524.Incumbent Republican Sen. Pat Toomey was unopposed and got 18,966 token votes.In the race on the GOP side for nomination for the U.S. Congressional seat in the 17th district, the eventual winner, Matt Connolly, won easily with 12,030 votes compared to Glenn Geissinger getting 7,146. His total for the entire district was 30,328 to 18,013 for GeissingerIncumbent Democrat Matt Cartwright got 11,463 unopposed tallies. He got a total of 67,185 votes in the entire district. He is seeking his third term.In other statewide races the results were:TreasurerNeither party had a race for the nomination for state treasurer. On the Democratic side Joe Torsella got 11,050 votes and on the GOP side Otto Voit got 17,271 votes. They will square off in the fall to take the seat now held by Timothy Reese.Reese was appointed to the position after Rob McCord, the elected treasurer, pleaded guilty to federal charges and resigned from office. Reese did not seek election to the position.Attorney GeneralThe Democrats had a race for the nomination for state Attorney General. Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli won the county with 5,245 votes. Coming in second was Josh Shapiro with 4,844 votes followed by Stephen A. Zappala Jr. with 2,485. Shapiro won the statewide vote.The Republicans also had a race for the nomination. John Rafferty defeated Joe Peters in the county with 10,042 votes to 8,543 for Peters. Raffery won statewide and will face Shapiro in the November general election.Incumbent Democrat Kathleen Kane did not seek re-election. She is facing criminal charges in Montgomery County for allegedly leaking information to the press in an investigation and then lying about it to a grand jury.Auditor GeneralIncumbent Democrat Eugene A. DePasquale was unopposed Tuesday and got 11,050 token votes in the county. He will face John Brown in the general election. Brown was unopposed for the GOP nod and got 17,343 votes in the county.
