A number of defendants missed their day in court this month as they failed to appear for their preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer in Tamaqua. All of the charges were bound over for trial in Schuylkill County Court and warrants were issued for their arrests.
Michael C. Slater-Trine, 18, of 177 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe, was scheduled to be in court for a hearing on charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property. The charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Adam Sinton after a March 27 shoplifting incident.James Paul Kelly, 19, of 88 Highland Park Drive, Levittown, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, underage drinking and failure to stop at a stop sign after a May 13 traffic stop in McAdoo. The charges were filed by patrolman William Curilla.Jonathan Evanco, 20, of 27 E. Monroe St., McAdoo, faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed by McAdoo patrolman Andrew Hashagen. The charge is from a Jan. 21 incident.Tina Marie Hosier, 29, of 130 Schuylkill Ave., Tamaqua, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Tamaqua patrolman Michael Hobbs after a Nov. 4, 2014, incident.Kimberly Ann Brogdon, 41, of 327 Spruce St., Tamaqua, was charged with retail theft, two counts of theft by deception and three counts of receiving stolen property after a May 11 incident. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods.Gerald Biscoe, 35, of 134 N. Kennedy Drive Rear, McAdoo, had charges of fleeing an officer and driving with a suspended license withdrawn by the arresting officer, McAdoo patrolman Curilla. Charges of driving without a license, failure to use turn signals and driving without headlights were moved from criminal court to traffic court.
