Carbon County commissioners

Carbon County Commissioners, on Thursday, acted on or discussed the following items:

• Approved signing the nondisclosure agreement with the Department of Health to begin receiving more detailed information on confirmed COVID-19 cases in Carbon County. The additional information will only be sent to the Carbon County 911 director and will remain private with only the dispatchers being able to see the information when dispatching emergency responders to a specific location.

• Opened a bid for refuse collection/single stream recycling. The sole bid was from County Waste out of Clifton Park, New York, and in the amount of $79,421.68. The bid was tabled for two weeks so it could be reviewed.

• Reappointed Dr. Samuel Dolgopol of Lehighton and Suzanne L. Whitely of Jim Thorpe to three-year terms on the Children and Youth Services Advisory Board. The term is from May 1 through April 30, 2023.

• Reappointed Harold J. Pudliner of Weatherly to the Redevelopment Authority Advisory Board. The term is from May 5 through April 30, 2025.

• Commissioner Rocky Ahner highly recommended Carbon County residents wear masks for everyone’s safety, as well as staying home as much as possible.

• Commissioner Chris Lukasevich said that LANTA, the company hired to handle the Carbon County Community Transit system, is requesting all those who utilize shared rides to wear masks. Right now, there has been about a 50 percent decline in ridership since the emergency has been declared in Carbon County.
