Destiny Bookhardt, 20, of Lansford, was taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, after she lost control of her black Dodge Neon just after 7 a.m. today and drove into the side wall of a bridge located near the All American Jeep dealership on SR309 in Tamaqua. The Neon continued to travel north for about 100 hundred feet after striking the bridge, which runs over the Little Schuylkill River. The extent of her injuries were unknown as of press time. Responding were East End and American Hose fire companies, Tamaqua ambulance, rescue squad and police. Fire police detoured heavy early morning traffic through Schuylkill Avenue and back onto SR309. Officer Peter Wysochansky is the investigating.
