One of two men accused of beating to death a Coaldale man two years ago admitted the deed before a Schuylkill County judge on Friday.

Oliver L. Trizarri's guilty plea, to conspiracy and third degree murder, came nine days after the other man accused in the killing, Stanley E. Kralik, successfully asked a judge to handle his case separately from Trizarri's.Trizarri could face up to 40 years in state prison and $100,000 in fines on the charges. But under the plea agreement, he faces 15 to 30 years, and $4,295 in restitutions."We think that's more than fair and reasonable under the circumstances," Trizarri's public defender, Michael O'Pake, said outside the courtroom.Judge John E. Domalakes deferred sentencing until after Trizarri testifies at Kralik's trial.The judge emphasized Trizarri's promise to "testify truthfully in the Kralik case."He also asked for a pre-sentence investigation before imposing Trizarri's punishment.Trizarri, shackled, cuffed, and clad in drab brown prison garb and bright orange Crocs, answered Domalakes' routine questions, but did not otherwise testify.In exchange for a lighter sentence, Trizarri promised to cooperate with prosecutors in Kralik's trial for the Jan. 20, 2014 death of 24-year-old Corey M. Samuels. No trial date has been scheduled.Kralik, 18, of Coaldale, and Trizarri, 22, of Reading, were each charged with first and third degree murder, criminal homicide, robbery/inflicting serious bodily injury, aggravated assault, theft, and conspiracy.Kralik is represented by public defender Claude A. Lord Shields.The case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Assistant District Attorney Jennifer N. Lehman and Assistant District Attorney Keith D. HoppesAt a preliminary hearing on March 10, 2015, Trizarri admitted to his role in Samuels' death. Both men pleaded not guilty in April 2015.Kralik in November lost a bid to be tried as a juvenile.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Frackville state Trooper Melissa Kyper, Trizarri told Coaldale police that he and Kralik plotted to kill Samuels, whom Kralik believed sexually assaulted a female friend of his.Trizarri and Kralik took Samuels for a walk in the woods in Coaldale on the night of Jan. 20, 2014, where Kralik beat him to death with a shovel, Trizarri told police.Kralik told police it was Trizarri who had hit Samuels with the shovel.The two took Samuels' wallet, a rosary and his cellphone.They dragged Samuels' body about 20 feet off the trail and covered it with snow, and covered the blood on the trail with snow.Samuels' body was discovered by hikers on Sept. 6, 2014, in the woods off East Miner Street in Coaldale.
