Carbon County court - drug cases

Seven defendants in drug-related cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:Jason Leonard Krug, 31, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on July 30 when U.S. Marshals went to his residence to serve a warrant. Weatherly police assisted. Inside the home police found nine marijuana plants growing plus other drug paraphernalia. Assistant District Attorney Joseph D. Perilli said police felt the marijuana was for personal use.On the possession count he was sentenced to serve 30 days to one year in jail and on the paraphernalia charge one year probation, with the terms running concurrently, and get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.He was given credit for 55 days already spent in jail on the charges and was paroled.Krug is an inmate in the county prison and won't be leaving anytime soon. There is a detainer on him filed by authorities in Texas who want to extradite him back to that state.Eric John Pauloski, 34, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance-heroin.He was arrested on June 25 by Kidder Township police for an incident in the area of 31 Pine Brook Drive in Holiday Pocono. Found were 34 packets of heroin.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Glenn C. Vosburgh, 28, of Tamaqua, and formerly of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, in two pending cases.He was arrested on the possession count on Aug. 9, 2014, by Lansford police for an incident in the area of 106 W. Patterson St. The paraphernalia charge stems from an incident on June 29, 2014, at Redners Market in Nesquehoning.Vosburgh admitted to a heroin addiction. He is also an inmate in the Delaware County prison on drug charges.Matika sentenced him to time served (86 days) to one year on the possession count and one year probation on the paraphernalia charge with the terms running consecutively. He was also ordered to get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance for D&A use, and render a total of 100 hours of community service when he is parole.David Thomas Lehman, 26, of Coaldale, and formerly of New Ringgold, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance.He was arrested on April 29 in the parking lot of Boyer's Market by Lansford police.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service.Brett Matthew Allen, 32, of Berwick, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on July 6 by Nesquehoning police following a traffic stop at the intersection of routes 93 and 209.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.Glenn Tony Laronde Jr., 47, of Allentown, pleaded to one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana.He was arrested on May 26, 2014, at Beltzville State Park by park rangers following a traffic stop.He was fined $300 and costs.Derek Lee Thompson, 22, of Oakboro, North Carolina, and formerly of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Jan. 31, 2014, by Lansford police at the intersection of Patterson and Riley streets. He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a D&A evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
