Monroe break-in

State police at Lehighton are investigating a burglary at a Monroe County residence. Troopers also reported on theft incidents.

A break-in occurred at the residence of Joseph Lauro, 484 Long Mountain Road, in Polk Township. Forced entry was made through a rear window. Once inside the criminals proceeded to cut copper piping from the basement of the home. The intruder was observed carrying a box of copper while leaving the residence. The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. on April 15.The suspect was described as being a "skinny" white male, about five-feet, nine to 11 inches tall, medium build. The suspect car is a silver Volkswagon Jetta with a possible ski rack on the roof.Two car entries are being probed. A 2013 Hyundai Tucson and a 2011 Kia Optima, owned by Thomas Joseph McKeon, 36, and Kathryn Ann McKeon, 30, both of 84 Piney Woods Drive, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, were entered sometime betwen 5:55 and 8:55 p.m. on April 19. Removed from the vehicles were U.S. currency, computer equipment, and a Northface backpack. The total estimated value of the items taken was set at $3,000.Marvin Earl Bartholomew, 86, of 660 Bartholomew Drive, Lehighton, Towamensing Township, Carbon County, reported a Snap On brand mig welder was removed from his garage sometime on April 19.Anyone with information concerning any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at (610) 377-4270.
