The United States Postal Service recognized the services of retiree Ruth Hoffman during a plaque presentation made at the Lehighton Post Office.

Hoffman retired as a rural postal worker and was presented the award by David J. Moore, contract transportation specialist, Allegheny Area, who was assisted by Lehighton Postmaster Phil Marousi.

Hoffman retired after 39 years of delivering mail to rural post officers in the Lehighton area and Parryville.

She began those chores on May 1, 1956, and also returned daily receipts from the rural offices to the Lehighton headquarters.

She had been one of 1,300 highway contract employees in the four-state Allegheny area of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio and Delaware.
