Tour of historic Carbon cemetery Sunday

Just in time for Halloween and in recognition of the 250th Anniversary of our nation’s founding, members of the public are invited to explore the historic St. Paul’s Union Church Cemetery.

The tour will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s Union Church, 414 Old Mill Road, Lehighton.

The Union Church serves both United Church of Christ and Lutheran congregations.

Roy Christman, former college professor, will begin the event with a short overview of American cemeteries followed by a guided exploration.

The cemetery includes many graves honoring veterans, including veterans of the Civil War, the War of 1812, the Korean War and both World Wars.

Visitors will be able to trace our area’s history as a Pennsylvania Dutch farming community reflected in the memorials.

Participants are invited to enjoy desserts, coffee and apple cider inside the church following the tour.
