The Nov. 3 General Election is looming, and Schuylkill County is getting ready.

On Sept. 23, commissioners approved hiring of people to help make sure everything runs smoothly.

Twelve people were hired as rovers. They’ll start immediately for office preparation and logistics/accuracy. They’ll be paid $12 an hour and 76 cents per mile on Election Day to travel to polling places or wherever they’re needed.

They are Michael Onuskanich, James Zerbe, Carol Cooney-Syzdek, Paula Warmkessel, Tim Wood, Gary Keifer, Cindy Drazenovich, Daniel Wachter, David Briggs, Julie Zangari, John Guers and William Swartz.

Cooney-Syzdek and Warmkessel will serve as subcontractors as needed.

Eleven people were hired as drivers to deliver Election Day supplies and equipment. They are John Hayes, Denise Wallace and Delmar Phillips, to be paid $360 each; James Zerbe at $350; Gary Keifer at $340; Jay Tobias and Robert Corocoron, at $320 each; William Klinger at $310; and David Briggs at $300.

Five people were hired as subcontractors for Election Day machine delivery at $14 an hour.

They are Delmar Phillips, Dennis Prosick, Jeff Kovach, Gary Goodman and John Hayes.

Four people were hired as Resolution Board members at $100 each.

They are Jerry Bowman, Edward Barket, Renee Buchanan and Bob Bylone.

Seven people were hired as subcontractors for the Computing Board at $75 per day beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6 to begin the 2% computation and canvassing of returns from the General Election.

They are James Klock, Joanne Dower, Don Dudash, Ann M. Karpovich, Joan Dudash, Ann Abalo and Sharon Chiao.
