Lansford Borough Council on Wednesday approved two paving projects among other business.

Moving forward is the paving of West Dock Street from Route 209 to No. 9 Mine entrance using shared services.

The cost of the project is estimated at $29,542, which will be paid out of the borough’s state Liquid Fuels funds.

The 100-block of East Front Street also will see paving repairs using shared services. The estimated cost of this project is $3,277.

The project did not qualify for Liquid Fuels funds and will be paid from Sewer Transmission Funds, Local Services Tax funds and the general fund.

Council has discussed both these projects multiple times this year. A third project involving Parkway Road will likely be held until next year with the streets crew filling in potholes.

In other business, council:

• Authorized its solicitor to draft an ordinance establishing a “No Parking” zone on East Patterson Street, where an AutoZone store is planned.

• Authorized an advertisement for a new solicitor with resignation of Bob Yurchak, effective Oct. 14. Council will send a letter of thanks to Yurchak.

• Approved seeking specifications to buy a 2026 Ford F350 to replace the 2001 F350 utility truck. Council will review those specifications.

• Approved a resolution to update the names on the UMB credit cards to add borough secretary Ashley McLaughlin’s name. The cards had the former treasurer, Maria Ahner’s name.

• Approved rebidding the Ashton Park concession stand project, which received no bids earlier this month. The project, which uses Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau matching grant funds which expire this year, will be advertised on the borough’s Facebook page, website, Times News and the state’s Muncibid.

• Advertise for people interested in the vacant seat on council following the resignation of Councilman Jack Soberick this month. Letters of intent need to be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 30.

• Denied the repair of the 2016 Ford Explorer used by code enforcement. The repairs needed totaled $4,669.55. Councilman Joe Butrie volunteered to remove the police equipment and markings from an older police SUV for the code officer.

• Withdrew a motion to purchase a 6-foot by 10-foot enclosed cargo trailer after Butrie received additional information on trailers from another dealer.

• Tabled a quote from Biros Utilities, Inc. to open a drain pipe under the 400-block of West Patterson Street after discussing other options.

• Approved a special event form for the Panther Valley homecoming parade, which was on Friday.
