Carbon County commissioners opened bids for a Community Development Block Grant sidewalk improvement in Lehighton, one of several CDBG projects acted on Thursday.

The project includes handicapped corners at Bridge and South Second streets.

Two bids through PennBid came into the county _ Dirt Work Solutions bid $43,400 and Minneci Inc. bid $59,000.

The commissioners tabled the bids for two weeks and referred them to Planning and Development.

The commissioners also tabled bids for another CDBG project in East Side Borough, which were opened on Sept. 3. These were for park and recreational facilities.

Another CDBG project got the green light, as commissioners awarded a $34,420 contact to Northeast Industrial Services Corp. for the clearance and demolition of 316 W. Patterson St. in Lansford.

The commissioners also authorized an advertisement for the Citizen Participation Plan, second public hearing for the 2026 CDBG funds and application for entitlement and non-entitlement communities in combination with a notice of program modification for Franklin Township for 2023 and 2024.

An invitation to bid was also advertised for a CDBG project in Mahoning Township for street improvements for West Side Road, Maple to Woodlawn, for 2023, 2024 and 2025.
