Three Lehighton Area School District teachers with a combined 98 years of service announced their retirements Monday night, with all three planning to finish out the current school year before leaving.

Timothy Sharrow, a middle school health and physical education teacher, leads the group with 36.88 years of service. Joseph Yescavage, a middle school science teacher, and Terry Haberman, a high school learning support teacher, are each retiring after 30.84 years with the district.

The school board plans to accept all three resignations later this month.

“That’s a tremendous amount of years of service combined,” Superintendent Jason Moser said. “These folks are not gone yet, but we are certainly appreciative of all their years.”

Director Jeremy Glaush echoed the sentiment, singling out Yescavage by name.

“I’d like to thank all three of them for their service,” Glaush said. “I got to know Joe a lot better than I got to know the other two when I was (board) president, and he’s a great guy. My kids always had good things to say about him. They’ve said great things about the other two, but with Joe, I got to know him. Congratulations, and enjoy your retirement.”
