Tamaqua police charged Megan Hill, 36, of Tamaqua, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a 6:45 p.m. Aug. 24 traffic stop.

Police said they were called to Cedar Street for a reckless driver and stopped Hill. On the back seat, police spotted a piece of tin foil with burned residue, which is commonly used to inhale controlled substances. Hill, police said, admitted to using drugs that afternoon.

Hill allowed officers to search her vehicle, and they found additional drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl, police said.

She was taken into custody and transported for a blood draw.

Police also charged Hill with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A preliminary hearing before District Judge Stephen Bayer in Tamaqua is scheduled for Oct. 21, according to court papers.
