A Boyertown area couple has purchased a 100-plus acre tract of land along the Lentz Trail in Jim Thorpe.

Peter J. Schneider Jr. and his wife, Susan L., are the new owners of the property located west of the Switchback Railroad Crossover at the site of the Mauch Chunk Lake Park. The property covers an area north of and parallel to the Lentz Trail highway.

The land was originally owned by the Blue Ridge Real Estate Company and was conveyed to the United Investors Realty Co., which, in turn, sold it to Charles C. and Janet H. French and John H. and Janet Drury.

The tract is adjacent to the area now owned by Carbon County, which was donated by the Blue Ridge Real Estate Company for the development of the county’s recreational program.
