Man faces drug charges

Stephen Hinkle, 50, of Weatherly is facing several charges following two incidents that were investigated by state police at Hazleton.

Police said he was taken into custody at 9:11 p.m. on July 21 at the intersection of Freedom Drive and Birch Road, Packer Township, for possession of a THC vape pen containing an array of drugs. He was transported to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, for arraignment.

At 2:47 p.m. on July 29, police said they were called to investigate a trespassing report on property at 1963 Quakake Road, Packer Township, resulting in Hinkle’s second arrest.

Police said it was determined Hinkle returned back to his property at 1206 Quakake Road in the township. Upon meeting with him in his driveway, Hinkle related “he was God and everything around him are illusions and he is also part of the illuminati,” police said.

They said Hinkle told them he is using the drug DMT (dimethyltryptamine) and marijuana and is having out-of-body experiences. Police said he handed over to them two vape pens that contained the drugs.

Hinkle was placed into custody and transported to the state police barracks. Bail was denied.
