Leonard J. Hoben III, active in the Coaldale Community Ambulance Association, was a unanimous choice of borough council last nigh to fill a vacancy on the Carbon County Telecommunications Commission.

Hoben will succeed Nicholas Paraschak, who resigned in July. He moved from the borough, leaving about 1-1/2 years on the three-year appointment of the post.

Hoben was nominated to the position by Councilman Michael Taras, the move being seconded by Daniel Rehatchek. Five other council members — Frank Petrash, president, Marie Kutza, Robert E. Ames, John Radocha and Margaret Sharpe — all gave Hoben their affirmative vote.

The borough’s other members of the commission are Police Chief Donald Butts and Andrew Maggazzu.
