State police announce DUI patrols

State police at the Bethlehem barracks have announced roving DUI patrols will take place from Aug. 7 to 9 on roads within their jurisdiction in Lehigh County.

They said the goal of the proactive enforcement is to reduce the number of alcohol-related and drug-related fatal and serious crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania highways.

Police said a DUI patrols initiative they conducted on Aug. 1 to 2 on roads in Northampton County netted the following results: 8 arrests made for DUI, 68 traffic citations and 35 traffic warnings issued, 3 misdemeanor arrests and 1 felony arrest made and 1 outstanding warrant arrest being served.
