The Jim Thorpe Area School District Board of Education last night named Victor Pituch of Lansford, physical education teacher in the district, to the position of athletic director.

Pituch will succeed Elmer Hugger, who resigned last month.

Pituch is a graduate of Nesquehoning High School and East Stroudsburg State College. He serve in the U.S. Navy for four years.

The new AD is a certified PIAA official in football, basketball. wrestling and baseball.

Before joining the Jim Thorpe district, he was a teacher in the Blue Mountain School District, where he coached football, basketball, wrestling and swimming.

Pituch is married for the former Mary Turcmanovich of Lansford. The couple has three children, Victor Jr., David and Lisa.
