A man currently in the Carbon County prison faces burglary and related charges for a Nesquehoning laundromat break-in that happened in early April.

Dean Tessitore Jr., 34, was arraigned by District Judge Beth Dodson on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, conspiracy, criminal attempt and possession of instruments of crime.

Bail was set at $50,000 straight, and his preliminary hearing is Aug. 12.

According to court papers, the owner of Wash & Win on Catawissa Street reported the April 5 burglary to borough police, showing officers video surveillance of multiple masked, gloved perpetrators in the building.

During the burglary, one man removed his glove to use a cellphone, revealing a distinctive tattoo on the back of his right hand.

The owner had other surveillance showing the same man with the tattoo visiting the business on multiple occasions. Police identified the man as Tessitore due to previous contact with him, court papers said.

The burglars broke into a secured room by cutting and breaking through the ceiling, and then breaking into the change machine, causing extensive damage. The machine contained approximately $1,000.

The damage to the building, coin machines, cameras with hardware and labor came to approximately $9,800. The burglars did not gain access to the coin machine, despite multiple attempts and multiple tools.

Tessitore, who was interviewed at the prison, admitted to committing and partaking in the burglary, court papers said.
