The Carbon County commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their meeting last week.
• Approved a request from Family Promise of Carbon County for $50,000 from the opioid settlement funds the county received to use toward helping those at the shelter who are directly affected by opioids.
• Approved a request from the Lehighton Ambulance Association for $105,890.40 from the opioid settlement funds to offset the cost associated with the treatment and emergency care of opioid related overdose and sustain the system’s ability to deliver emergency care.
• Ratified a proposal from Arthur A. Swallow Associates LLC of Allentown for survey services at the Renee G. and Keith N. Youse Farm at a cost of $10,000; the Barry Fink Farm, $9,400; and Justin L. and Katherine E. Cunfer Farm, $8,200.
• Approved an agreement with St. Luke’s University Health Network to continue to provide a family development specialist to support students from seventh through 12th grade at the Panther Valley School District. The cost is $71,070 from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, and $73,202 from July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028.
