Carbon County Commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their meeting last week.
• Acknowledged the second amended administrative order from the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas, Criminal Division, that on July 16, Kim M. Gillen, esquire, has been appointed to serve as the Children and Youth hearing officer, effective from April 1 through Dec. 31. This is a part-time position.
• Acknowledged a letter from Turning Point of Lehigh Valley informing the county that the organization has been awarded the contract through the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence to provide comprehensive domestic violence services for county residents.
• Received communication from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania informing the county that the Local Share Account grant agreement for the Mauch Chunk Historical Society has been approved for construction, engineering and administration costs for the Mauch Chunk Opera House accessibility and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance project. The grant is for $89,927 and had previously been announced.
• Approved proposals from ADT LLC and Valued Relationships Inc. to provide personal emergency response systems services for the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging.
• Approved a quote from Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP of Allentown for the installation of a card access reader at the archives building. The cost is $11,645.56.
• Appointed Joseph Guardiani of Nesquehoning and reappointed Suzanne D. Smith of St. Luke’s University Health Network, Ellen Cauthen of Jim Thorpe, Garry Wentz of Parryville, Thomas Williams of Parryville and Diane Luedtke of Jim Thorpe to the AAA Advisory Board for a one-year term, ending June 30, 2027.
• Approved an agreement with Secure Technology Value Solutions of State College for one-year maintenance for the Nutech Body Scanner at the correctional facility. The cost is $19,962 and the contract goes into effect Dec. 18.
• Approved an agreement with IntegraOne of Allentown for backup and archive services for Information Technology at a monthly cost of $7,651.70.
• Ratified a quote from Winslow Technology Group of Waltham, Maine for backup service for IT at a cost of $34,448.15 for a three-year term, beginning on July 23.
• Approved an application to PCoRP, the county’s insurance carrier, for up to $25,000 in loss prevention grant funds. The money will be used to replace four outdated AEDs at a total cost of $8,796.
• Approved an agreement with Serving Seniors Inc. of Scranton to provide Ombudsman Services at an annual cost of $35,839 for three years.
