Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 23 with 24 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “My Guiding Light.”

The group had an auction and everyone received a gift. Three members are celebrating birthdays in July. A member brought ice cream for dessert for all members.

The meeting closed and bingo was played. The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex.

Summer luncheon

An Aloha Summer Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 18 at Grace Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg. The speaker will be Cathy Hopper, and the special feature will be Forget Me Not florist.

The event is sponsored by Women’s Connection/Stonecroft Ministries.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Debra Rogers will officiate the 11 a.m. Sunday service for Calvary Evangelical Church of Lewistown Valley. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

After the worship service, the church will have its annual Sunday school picnic, an event featuring fun, food, fellowship and friends along with games and conversation. At 5:30 p.m., attendees will fill the pavilion for a vesper service with songs of praise to Jesus for his care and love. Those wishing to attend are asked to bring food. For the summer, all services are held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.

Free movie

A free family movie night featuring “Rio 2” will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at West Penn Park. Refreshments will be available.

Attendees should bring lawn chairs and blankets. In the event of inclement weather, the movie will be shown in the pavilion.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have the sacrament of holy communion. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

There will be a joyous noise offering at the 9 a.m. Aug. 9 service.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Communion will be served during the service. Adult Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on July 28 with 29 members present.

President Jayne McLaughlin opened the meeting with the invocation, “Both Night and Day” recited by a member.

The group chanced off a Boyer’s gift card, which was won by a member.

By majority vote, the group will have DiMaggio’s cater the Christmas dinner at Christ Church in Barnesville.

The meeting closed and bingo was played.

The group’s next meeting is at 1 p.m. Aug. 11 in Christ Church.
