Carbon cruises to championship round
Carbon kept its District 18 championship hopes alive in emphatic fashion Wednesday, erupting for six first-inning runs and rolling past Stroudsburg 12-2 to advance to the tournament finals against unbeaten Weatherly.

SOFTBALL Carbon-Stroudsburg
Carlee Confer struck out eight in a four-inning complete game, and Carbon erupted for six first-inning runs on its way to a 12-2 victory over Stroudsburg. Carbon sent 11 batters to the plate in the opening inning. Sophia F, Confer and Alexa Becker each drove in a run before Adrianna B capped the rally with a two-run inside-the-park home run.
Carbon added four runs in the second, highlighted by RBI hits from Sophia, Confer, Lindsay B and Lianna Olavarria, before adding two more in the third.
Lindsay paced the offense by going 3-for-3, while Lydia Steward and McKenna G both added two hits. Confer, Sophia and Adrianna finished with two RBIs apiece, and Confer and McKenna both stole two bases. Carbon finished with 14 hits and seven stolen bases.
Confer allowed one hit and two runs while walking four in earning the pitching victory.

Northern Valley-Emmaus
Northern Valley broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, and the Chargers went on to a 9-3 victory over Emmaus.
Ben Storch went 3-for-3, and delivered a two-run single during the decisive fifth inning. Brandon Gonzalez also drove in two runs, while Ryan Ebeling added two hits for the Chargers.
With the win, Northern Valley snapped a four-game losing streak.

Palmerton-Northampton
Northampton jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a 12-1 victory over Palmerton.
The Konkrete Kids scored five runs in the first inning, and added four more in the second. Three Northampton pitchers combined to hold the Bombers to two hits while striking out 11.
Chase Wilson and Dillon Uhnak each had a hit for Palmerton, which committed five errors.

Saylorsburg put the game away with a five-run sixth inning and defeated Pen Argyl 14-6, ending a nine-game losing streak.
Connor Santangelo went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the fourth that gave the Saylors the lead for good. Parker Ahner finished 3-for-5 and added a two-run single during the sixth-inning outburst.

Avery Kabrick drove in five runs and Pablo Rivera added four as Northern Lehigh routed Freemansburg/North Bethlehem 12-2.
Rivera went 2-for-3, and ripped a bases-clearing triple in the first inning to give Northern Lehigh a 4-1 lead. Kabrick, who finished 2-for-2, followed with a two-run single in the second before clearing the bases with a three-run double in the third.
Cole Mohrey and Ryder Gall combined to hold FBT to three hits as Northern Lehigh snapped a three-game losing streak.

Chase Llewellyn and Luke Heydt combined on a four-hitter as Franklin Township edged North Parkland 3-2.
Llewellyn allowed one hit while striking out six and walking five over four innings. Heydt surrendered three hits over the final three innings, striking out two and walking two to earn the save.
Logan Bellis drove in Franklin Township’s lone RBI with a sacrifice fly, while the winners collected five singles.
The loss snapped North Parkland’s six-game winning streak.

Palmerton-S. Lehigh
Sean Cicon’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Southern Lehigh to a 10-9 walk-off victory over Palmerton.
The Bombers rallied from an 8-1 deficit, scoring six runs in the fifth inning to pull within a run before tying the game in the seventh on a bases-loaded walk to Mason Sutton.
Cade Serfass led Palmerton with two hits, including an RBI double, and drove in two runs. Brody Mertz and Wesley Good also both had two RBIs, while Charlie Coombe added an RBI single. Zack Zelinsky finished with two hits, and Cole Singleton drew three walks as the Bombers worked 10 free passes.
Serfass struck out four in 3 2/3 innings.
