Local Roundup: Results from June 23
Jim Thorpe, Weatherly and Carbon all remained alive in District 18 tournament play with dominant victories, outscoring their opponents by a combined 41-3.

Towamensing-Jim Thorpe
Four Jim Thorpe pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout and struck out 13 to remain alive with an 8-0 victory over Towamensing.
Eli Knopf started and didn’t allow a hit while fanning five in 2 1/3 innings. Kaiden Calcano also failed to give up a hit and struck out five in his two frames.
Winston Engelbert delivered a double and knocked in two runs for Thorpe, while Patrick Burdyn added a double, a run and an RBI. Ben Swanson and Jalen Calcano both added a hit and a run.
Towamensing’s lone hit came off the bat of Lukas Robertson.

Carbon-West End
Carbon remained alive in the district tournament by cruising to a 16-1 victory over West End.
The winners broke the game open with a 13-run third inning.
Lydia Steward paced Carbon offensively with two hits, two runs and three RBIs. Lianna Olavarria added a pair of hits and two runs, while Carlee Confer, Alexa Becker and Lilyanna Tanner all finished with a hit and two RBIs.
Confer allowed just one hit and struck out six to earn the win.

East Stroudsburg-Weatherly
Reya Gregory allowed just one hit and struck out five in the circle, and added two hits and six RBIs at the plate to lead Weatherly to a 17-2 victory over East Stroudsburg.
The winners also took advantage of 16 walks to remain alive in the tournament.
Raigan Cannon and Faith Feaster both collected a hit and knocked in two runs for Weatherly, while Mia Durham scored three runs.

Lower Mac-Franklin Twp.
Franklin Township snapped a tie game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull out a 7-5 victory over Lower Mac.
An error allowed Brian Mriss, who had walked and stole second, to score the go-ahead run while Brody Hunsicker delivered an RBI single for an insurance tally.
Owen Moyer added a hit and two RBIs, and Miles Mann contributed a hit and a run.
Moyer gained the mound win, tossing six innings. He allowed four hits and struck out four.

North Bethlehem gained an early lead and held on for a 9-4 victory over Northern Valley.
Devin Ortiz had two hits and knocked in two runs for the Rebels, while also earning the pitching win. Thomas Seifert also finished with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
The Chargers received a pair of hits from Calvin Kulp. Connor Hausman and Ryan Eberling both contributed a hit and two runs scored. Brayden Scott added two RBIs

Hegins-Tamaqua
Hegins pounded out 21 hits and jumped out to a big lead early to roll past Tamaqua, 19-8.
Lennon Kline, Riley Kaslavage, Damon Lettich and Brayden Kimmel combined to go 12-for-14 with 10 RBIs for the winners, who scored nine runs in the first inning and remained undefeated this season.
Kline knocked in four runs, while Kaslavage and Lettich both drove in three. Kimmel scored three runs
Tamaqua rallied for seven runs in the fourth frame. Aiden Smith collected two hits in the losing effort. Ryder Holmberg (double) and Mason Evans (triple) both added a hit and two RBIs.
