The Monroe County commissioners ratified on April 15 the opening of the bids for the Monroe County Parking Garage Maintenance project. The bids were opened on April 8.

The contract for the Monroe County Parking Garage maintenance project was given to Sealcrete Contracting LLC. Its base bid total was $530,775, with alternate pricing totaling $28,080.

The other companies and their bids were as follows:

• Quinn Construction Inc. — $1,520,703, with 10% bid bond, no prices included for alternates.

• Platinum Specialty Services Inc. — $1,303,602.95, 10% bid bond, no prices for alternates.

• South Shore Construction LLC — $532,335.10, 10% bid bond, alternate pricing provided.

• C.H. & D. Enterprises Inc. — $928,888, 10% bid bond, alternate pricing provided.

• Schnell Contracting Limited LLC — $1,459,965, 10% bid bond, alternate pricing provided.

• Atlantic Contracting Group — $830,435, 10% bid bond, alternate pricing provided.

A resident asked if any of the companies have worked on the parking garage in the past. Commissioner John Christy, the chairman, said that several of the companies have done work on the parking garage in years past.

Commissioner Sharon Laverdure said, “We were pleased to get as many people interested. At times that’s challenging. It was good to have an overview.”

Christy said, “Almost all of these contractors are from the New Jersey, New York area, where parking garages are abundant.”
