Police: Woman dies after jumping out of moving car

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M Fogelsville Criminal Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation into the death of a woman in Lehigh County.

At 5:55 p.m. Monday, troopers from PSP Fogelsville were dispatched to the area of the 2300 block of Seipstown Road, Weisenberg Township, for the initial report of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.

Police determined a Subaru sedan, driven by a 33-year-old man, was going eastbound on Seipstown Road, when the passenger got out of the moving car and hit the ground.

EMS arrived on scene and transported the woman to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest where she was pronounced deceased at 10:55 p.m. Monday. The Lehigh County Coroner’s office identified the woman as Abigail Smith, 24, of Upper Macungie Township.

The Fogelsville Criminal Investigation Unit is the lead agency for this investigation.

Assisting with this investigation are the Troop M Forensic Services Unit and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
