One killed at Hometown factory

One person was killed Saturday in an industrial incident in Hometown.

Just before 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon emergency personnel were dispatched to an industrial accident with entrapment at 143 Mahanoy Avenue in Hometown.

When emergency personnel from Hometown, Tamaqua and Mahoning City arrived on scene it was determined the victim did not survive their injuries and a request was made for the Schuylkill County coroner.

State police at Frackville said a 36-year-old died in the incident.

The site is the former John Morgan knitting mill to the rear of the Hometown Farmers market. An Internet search shows the company operating at the site is Mainstreet Manufacturing.

According to the company’s website, the products manufactured include pillows, stuffed animals, children’s seating and pet beds.
