Slatington man’s bail $10M in child sex case
A Slatington man has been charged with trying to have sex with a 13-year-old girl from Bucks County.
Bail in the case was set at $10 million.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Ryan Kolb of the Bensalem Township Police Department in the case against Warren Batz:
On May 3, Batz, 38, began a conversation with the 13-year-old on a dating/social media app.
Police said Batz expressed his interest in a romantic/sexual relationship with the girl, and attempted to create an arrangement in which he would pay her $200 to “hang out” and “party for free.”
Batz said he was looking to make her his “sugar baby,” which meant she would perform sexual acts with him in exchange for money and/or possessions.
Batz asked the girl on multiple occasions to send him sexually explicit photos or videos of herself.
Batz and the juvenile messaged in the end of May and throughout the month of June. Batz continued to attempt to make arrangements to meet with the girl.
He encouraged the girl to sneak out after her mother went to bed to meet with him, and eventually Batz arranged for a meeting on June 24.
On June 24, he traveled from his home in Slatington (about 70 miles and an hour away) to meet with the girl.
Batz said he had purchased an iPhone for her so she could send him sexually explicit photos and videos, and avoid detection from her mother.
Around 12:30 p.m., Batz arrived at the home in the 2500 block of Old Trevose Road in Bensalem Township, and asked the girl to come outside and get into his vehicle, intending to drive her back to his home.
The girl told him that she was nervous about doing so. Batz demanded repeatedly that she come outside and get in his vehicle, but he failed to convince her so he eventually left.
Later in the day, Batz repeatedly messaged the juvenile about how sad and upset he was that she didn’t meet him, and that he was feeling bad about himself as a result.
Batz later told the girl he would feel better if she recorded and sent a video of herself and asked her to do so multiple times.
He was taken into custody at his place of employment on July 3.
Batz faces charges of unlawful contact with minor, sexual abuse of children (photo/video), sexual abuse of children — abuse material, corruption of minors, criminal use of communications facility and luring a child into a motor vehicle.
Batz is currently incarcerated in lieu of $10 million, 10% bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 16 before District Judge Joseph P. Falcone of Bensalem.
