State police at Fogelsville - crashes
State police at the Fogelsville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Police are investigating a crash that damaged a vehicle parked at the Walmart in Lower Macungie Township. The victim said her vehicle was struck sometime between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. April 22. Police said the vehicle suffered minor damage to the passenger side rear bumper.
• A vehicle driven by Gladys Burgos, 38, of East Stroudsburg, suffered disabling damage after it was struck near a stop sign at Saint Peters Road in Upper Milford Township.
Police said Burgos failed to clear both lanes of travel before she entered the intersection and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old from Barto. Both vehicles were towed by Mechanics Plus Towing. Neither driver was injured.
• Rupal Taylor, 36, of Orwigsburg, escaped injury after she crashed her car around 8:30 a.m. June 6 on Interstate 78 in Weisenberg Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Taylor was traveling east and struck debris on the roadway. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
• A motorcyclist had minor injuries after he crashed his bike around 6:30 a.m. May 30 on Schoeneck Road in Lower Macungie Township. Police said Eugene Hojnowski, 56, was traveling too fast for conditions and when he attempted to slow down for a railroad crossing, he lost control and laid down the motorcycle.
He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.
• David DeJesus Lewis, 31, of Shenandoah, crashed his car at 6:54 a.m. June 5 on Route 309 in Lynn Township after he attempted to avoid striking an animal.
The vehicle left the roadway and struck a fence. Police said the vehicle had disabling damage but DeJesus was not injured.
• Zackery Elbert, 32, of Germansville, received a minor head injury in a 9:41 a.m. June 5 crash on Mountain Road in Lynn Township.
Police said he failed to maintain a safe speed while approaching a work zone and struck the rear of a vehicle in front of his. Elbert’s vehicle had minor damage but the vehicle he struck had to be towed. Police were assisted by the Cetronia EMS and New Tripoli Fire Company.
• Alan Cyphers, 56, of Stroudsburg, was not injured when his vehicle struck a deer on Route 22 in Upper Macungie Township just before 10 p.m. June 4. Police said the crash caused disabling damage to his vehicle.
• No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash at 3:51 p.m. June 4 on Route 222 near North Krocks Road in Lower Macungie Township.
Police said Normaris Casimiro, 18, was traveling too close behind a vehicle driven by Megan Wirth, New Tripoli. He struck her vehicle from behind. Police said his vehicle had disabling damage. Casimiro was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Ryan Oddo, 32, Cranberry Township, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, for treatment of minor injuries after a 9:40 p.m. June 2 crash on Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township. Police said several deer entered the roadway, and Oddo was unable to avoid striking one. His vehicle had major damage and was towed from the scene.
• Keely Lyons, 30, of Topton, was traveling east on Holbens Valley Road in Weisenberg Township around 6:40 p.m. June 2 when she struck a guide rail. The impact caused the vehicle to spin before coming to rest. Police said Lyons had a minor injury but refused medical attention. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
• A 34-year-old man from Macungie did not stop his vehicle after he struck a pedestrian on Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township at 9:13 p.m. May 22.
Police said the driver hit a 25-year-old man who was attempting to cross the road in a marked crosswalk. The man then drove away.
Police were able to locate the man and filed charges against him.
• Police said Jayden Smith, 19, of Macungie, had a minor injury after a two-vehicle crash on Werley’s Corner Road in Weisenberg Township.
Police said Smith was hit when he was attempting to merge onto the road. His vehicle received disabling damage.
Smith was cited after the crash, according to police.
