Incumbents, newcomer advance in Northern Lehigh
Two incumbents and one newcomer won spots on November’s general election ballot to win seats on Northern Lehigh School District’s board of directors based on unofficial results Tuesday night.
In Lehigh County, incumbent Angela Williams garnered 359 votes on the Democratic ballot to pace the pack, followed by incumbent Gary Fedorcha (325).
Williams also led on the Republican ballot with 476 votes, followed by newcomer Timothy Weaber (398) and Fedorcha (318).
Williams and Fedorcha cross-filed.
In Northampton County, Williams again led the way on the Democratic ballot with 97 votes, followed by Fedorcha (92). There were also 20 write-ins.
On the Republican ticket, Williams received 47 votes, followed by Weaber (40) and Fedorcha (39). There were 14 write-in votes.
Lehigh Township
In Lehigh Township, Democrat James Barnes received 629 votes for the six-year term on the Lehigh Township board of supervisors.
He will face incumbent Republican Janet Sheats, who had 435 votes to hold off Lewis Gogel (407).
Slatington Borough
One four-year term and one two-year term are open on Slatington Borough Council.
Republican Aaron Schoch received 136 votes to outdo William M. Schippers, who got 119 votes for the open four-year term.
For the two-year term, Schoch received 67 votes to 49 for Schippers.
Jeralyn Walters Schoch, a Republican, ran unopposed for mayor of Slatington and received 165 votes.
Walnutport Borough
In Walnutport, three incumbents will be joined by a newcomer to fill four four-year seats on Walnutport Borough Council. Democratic incumbent Jennifer Wentz was the top vote-getter with 100 votes.
On the Republican ticket, incumbent David Wentling had 54 votes, followed by Patrice Hunsicker (50) and Nancy Treskot (50). There was one write-in vote.
For the tax collector position, Republican Kristie Wentling ran unopposed and received 61 votes.
For the mayor position, Democratic incumbent Mayor Wayne Weidner received 111 votes to retain his position. There was one write-in vote.
Washington Township
Incumbent Josh B. Friebolin, Republican, ran unopposed to retain his seat on the Washington Township board of supervisors.
For tax collector, Republican Ashley Wilk earned 396 votes to better the 141 fellow Republican Gale N. Husack receive. For the judge of elections position, Republican Lauren Ganser ran unopposed and received 279 votes.
