state police at Hazleton CRASHES
State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:
• Ryan Merola, 35, of Hazle Township, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:59 a.m. Sept. 10 at the intersection of East Broad Street and the Arthur Gardner Parkway in Hazle Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the American Patient Transport Systems to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Police said the crash occurred when Merola, driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra, attempted to turn left without proper clearance and his car was struck by a 2014 Hyundai Veloster operated by Lora M. Green, 54, of Lehighton, who police said had a green light at the intersection. She was uninjured.
Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
They said Merola was cited after the crash.
• Lois J. Carter, 84, of White Haven, was uninjured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:38 a.m. Sept. 12 at the intersection of North Church and West 32nd streets in Hazle Township.
Police said she was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on North Church Street when a 2022 Dodge Ram driven by Tyler R. Snipas, 24, of Mountain Top, pulled into the intersection in front of the Malibu and the vehicles collided. Police said the Ram sustained disabling damages and the Malibu was towed from the scene.
Snipas, who was unhurt, was cited after the crash.
• Stephen F. Cullen, 58, of Weatherly, had minor injuries after a motorcycle crash at 8 p.m. July 24 on Buck Mountain Road in Lausanne Township, police said.
He was transported by personnel from the White Haven EMS unit to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Police said he was southbound when a deer entered the roadway in front of his motorcycle. Cullen swerved to avoid hitting the deer and laid the bike down on its side, coming to rest on the right shoulder of the road.
• Marco Sierra De La Cruz, 35, of Wilkes-Barre, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 7:41 p.m. Aug. 28 on Tresckow Road in Banks Township. He was uninjured.
Police said he was driving a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe eastbound when a deer entered the path of the vehicle. To avoid striking the deer, De La Cruz left the roadway and his vehicle hit a tree. It had to be towed from the scene.
